Cable in Conduit Systems: Improved Installation Efficiency and Reliability
Installation of complex electrical systems is an extremely challenging and often time-consuming job. The wiring process itself can involve pulling miles of cables through a complex arrangement of protective pipes. Installers are often left struggling manually wiring conduit through tight corners and bends. The task is made even more difficult when installation issues arise, as it’s not uncommon for wires to snag internally, get stuck and/or damaged during the process.
Allwire’s pre-installed cable-in-conduit solutions eliminate the risk of these extremely frustrating and potentially costly installation issues. Using durable yet flexible prewired conduit, there’s no need for manual wiring. That makes the job much quicker, easier, and more reliable. For many applications, it’s a simple cut-to-length affair.
Our prewired conduit also takes up less space during both transportation and storage, while the durable prewired construction prevents cable damage during and prior to installation.
The Advantages of Allwire’s Cable-in-Conduit (CIC)
Pre-wired cable-in-conduit (CIC) is an innovative installation concept. Virtually any type of cable can be supplied by Allwire in a flexible, polyethylene duct system ranging in size from 1/2” to 2” nominal conduit size.
The duct system is extruded around the cable in long continuous lengths and put up on reels prior to final testing and shipment. Allwire warrants the entire CIC system when supplying the cable. Our CIC system not only provides substantial protection in shipping and placing operations, it also provides a raceway, in place, for replacement or upgrade of existing cable.
Durable and Flexible High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Construction
Polyethylene duct has an extensive history of use for both primary and secondary power distribution in the electric utility industry. It has been used for underground service for airport, highway, street and parking area lighting. Beyond those applications, Allwire has supplied CIC solutions for use in CATV and fiber optic cable installations. HDPE’s superior resistance to moisture, low temperature, and chemicals have expanded its use to the irrigation industry.
The combined cost-effectiveness and enhanced protection offered by our prewired cable-in-conduit makes it ideal for power, coaxial, or fiber optic cables. Backed by proven reliability, millions of feet of cable have been installed worldwide using Allwire cable-in-conduit systems.
Also Optimized for Aerial, Underground, and Buried Cables
Allwire cable-in-conduit products are a uniquely optimized option for aerial installations, as well as underground and buried cable applications. With decades of proven reliability in the field, our cable-in-conduit solutions have seen a proven cost savings of up to 40% over other installation methods.
Beyond the simpler, more cost-effective installation process, our cable-in-conduit solutions also prevent damage and otherwise minimize your future maintenance requirements, achieving even greater long-term cost savings.
Allwire HDPE Conduit Options
For most applications, we typically supply conduit consisting black high-density polyethylene. Other sunlight resistant colors are available and can be supplied upon request. The compound can be extruded in different wall thicknesses depending on the demands of the installation technique and soil conditions involved. Each configuration has its advantages.
